Dan & Louise Mack

Retired Hamlin County Sheriff

We moved to Bryant, SD as a young family in 1976 as a condition for my husband, Dan T Mack to be hired as the only Hamlin County deputy. It was in Bryant our paths would first cross with Dave Biteler. His grandparents, the Ericksons, owned a little gas station/C store (before there was such a thing) and it was the only business open on a Sunday in a small town. His grandma was very proud of her daughters and their families, which we never met till years later.

My husband, feeling the people of Hamlin County deserved better and also 24-hour service, ran for sheriff in 1979. He won that race and stayed in office through 2012 when he retired. I also worked alongside him in his office for 32 years. Our whole family was totally immersed in law enforcement, as we had a whole mini-office in our home. The point I am trying to make is that we do speak from experience when we endorse someone.

We know Dave, his family and his work history. Dave knows all aspects of law enforcement because he has experience at the police department, the jail, the court system and what it takes to manage a sheriff’s department. He has always shown he is willing and able to go above and beyond.

We cannot think there is a better person for your next Brookings County Sheriff than Dave Biteler. Dave also happens to be our son in law, married to our daughter Becky. She also knows a thing or two about serving, as a past jailor, dispatcher and police officer. Our family lives the motto “To serve and protect”.

We know you cannot go wrong casting your vote for Dave Biteler!

Sincerely,

Dan T & Louise Mack
