To the Voters of Brookings County,

I am Moody County Sheriff Troy Wellman, and I would like to speak regarding the upcoming election for Brookings County Sheriff.

I have worked with candidate David Biteler for the last two decades, primarily during his time working at the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center, including while he served as a Lieutenant and Jail Administrator.

One thing I would like the voters of Brookings County to know is that Dave has worked exceptionally well with surrounding agencies over the years. In my 20 years as Sheriff here in Moody County, Dave has been one of the best to work with when it comes to cooperation involving inmates, medical needs, communication regarding inmates, and overall interagency coordination.

Dave also has the ability to effectively work with inmates themselves, whether that means being a listening ear or an advocate for those struggling, even when they may not be willing or able to advocate for themselves.

As Sheriff, I know Dave will continue building those agency relationships and will not only communicate effectively, but also strengthen interagency cooperation. That is simply who Dave is. He has worked quietly within the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, but very effectively.

Dave is a natural leader and communicator. I urge those who can vote in the Primary Election to vote for Dave, and then vote for him again in the General Election. He has the ability not only to continue the progress the Sheriff’s Office has made over the last several years, but also to lead it into an even stronger future — one that works well with other agencies, continues growing the jail program, and provides leadership that genuinely cares about its employees, from the newest correctional officers to the most seasoned deputies, jail staff, and administrative support staff.

If I were able to vote in Brookings County, I would choose David Biteler for Sheriff.
